Jacqui Cooke, is interested in the social movements and lives of Black and ethnic communities across the globe and many of her paintings portray the creativity and actions of people of African descent.

Working in oil paints, she creates portraits of historical figures, everyday individuals as well as capturing landscapes. The theme ‘I Am Activist’ aims to create visual depth in each subject which represents Black people's dignity in the face of adversity.
